Located within Mirvac’s Aspect Industrial Estate at Kemps Creek, the Winning Appliances distribution centre is a large-format industrial facility designed to support high-volume operations while meeting strong sustainability and performance targets. The project required a roof and walling solution that could support efficient construction sequencing, long-term durability and thermal performance across a very large building envelope.
Stramit supplied the roofing sheets, wall cladding and purlins for the project, working with Steel Builder Australia on a supply-only basis. The specified solution used Stramit’s Speed Deck Ultra® concealed fixed decking in COLORBOND® Coolmax® steel for the roofing and Stramit’s Monoclad® in COLORBOND® steel with a Classic finish in Dover White™ for the walling. For the wall cladding, Stramit’s Monoclad® in COLORBOND® steel with a Classic finish in Dover White™ was selected.

While industrial in scale, the project was designed with clear performance goals to improve energy efficiency, reduce heat load and support a durable building suited to continuous use. Stramit’s roofing and walling package was selected to support those goals while also helping the contractor maintain installation efficiency on site.
The roof specification used Speed Deck Ultra® in Coolmax®, chosen for both installation efficiency and reflective performance. The Coolmax® finish, combined with the Dover White™ colour option, supports higher solar reflectance and reduced solar heat absorption, and contributes to a more controlled internal environment.
This helps to reduce energy demand for interior cooling over the life of the building. The project also formed part of a broader sustainability-led estate outcome, with design decisions aligned to 6 Star Green Star performance expectations.
For the walling, Monoclad® in COLORBOND® steel in a Classic finish provided a robust external cladding solution suited to a large industrial form, with a clean, consistent finish across the building envelope.
Together, the roof and wall system delivered a practical and durable material response to a high-use logistics facility.

A key project driver was construction speed across a very large roof area. On warehouse projects of this size, roofing progress directly affects the broader build sequence, including follow-on trades and enclosure timing.
As explained by Stramit’s project team, “the Speed Deck Ultra® system was selected because of the speed of installation, with the clip-based fixing system allowing the installer to move faster than a conventional screw-fixed approach across the 80,000 square metre roof area.” This reduced fixing time and supported faster project construction times.
This was not only a product selection decision, but a construction planning decision: the roofing system had to support efficient installation without compromising performance.

The most significant delivery challenge was transporting long roof sheets to site. With sheets up to 32 metres in length, each load required detailed planning, Council and NSW Police route approvals and specialist transport arrangements. As the project’s major logistical challenge, this required:
Stramit used an extendable steel trailer from its Erskine Park facility to move the oversized sheets while protecting product quality and meeting transport requirements. The Stramit project team also noted that “the long-length roofing improves installation efficiency, but only where production, batch deliveries, transport permits, access and delivery timing are precisely managed.”
This transport planning was a critical part of the project solution that enabled the product selection strategy (long sheets with clip fixing for faster installation) to work in practice.

Although Stramit’s scope was supply-only, technical support formed an important part of the project delivery. Stramit provided information and guidance to support:
This support helped Steel Builder Australia manage product selection, installation and handover with a clear process from supply through to completion. It also helped ensure the roofing and walling package aligned with the project’s broader performance and sustainability expectations.
The Winning Distribution project demonstrates how industrial building design increasingly depends on the integration of material performance, installation methodology and logistics planning.
For Stramit, the project demonstrated capability in:
The result is a large warehouse with advanced sustainability credentials that supports operational efficiency during construction and performance efficiency over time.
